Bill
Albertson has been active in professional ministry for over
forty years. His academic background includes a BA from Gustavus
Alophus College, a Masters in Theology from Chicago Lutheran
Seminary and another Masters degree in Liberal Arts from Hamline
University. Following graduation from the seminary Bill received
further training in the cultures of the Far East and studied
the Chinese language.
Bill's
work experience includes serving as an educator-administrator
for a Chinese Secondary School in Borneo, Federation of Malaysia.
He served as a pastor in Saint Louis Park and Wayzata, MN.
As pastor Pastor at Wayzata Community Church, a congregation
of over 2,500 members, Bill officiated many of the weddings
and provided family and pre-marriage counseling.
Bill
has served on the Board of Directors of many organizations,
including the YMCA Ridgedale Branch, the Wayzata/Plymouth
Chemical Health Commission and the Center for Victims of Torture.
He served on a Blue Ribbons Commission for the Minnesota Department
of Corrections. He was also the primary facilitator in the
assimilation of over 60 refugees from various war-torn areas
of the world.
Bill
has received a variety of awards including the Cross of Saint
Andrew from the Boy Scouts of America for his work with children
at risk, and was recognized as the Good Samaritan of the Year
by the Samaritan Counseling Center. He was a guest Chaplain
at the United States Congress. In November of 1997, Governor
Arne Carlson proclaimed Bill Albertson Day in the State of
Minnesota. He served in the Army during the Korean War and
is a member of the American Legion. He continues to serve
as a volunteer for Big Brothers and remains active in Amnesty
International.
